So this video is SERIOUSLY long overdue, given that Mech Warfare 2010 happened back in April earlier this year at Robogames. We got crazy busy over the summer & fall and publishing this video sort of slipped under our radar. But- here it is in all it’s glory! If you don’t know what Mech Warfare is please do yourself a favor and check out the website or join our community for the latest Mech Warfare discussions!

Celebrate the holidays by spending money on the only things that matters… Robots! Buy them for your kids, for your geeky parents, for your pets, even people you don’t like. (Set those ones to kill.) This is America and we only know how to express our emotions through wild unfettered spending of cash and credit. Don’t be left behind.
Seriously though, robots are fun and give many hours of entertainment and education. When skynet comes to your door in 20 years you can show them your vintage collection and instead of shooting you they will fall to their knees, cry, and call you Daddy or Mommy.
The sale is valid while supplies last, but we will also honor it on most back ordered items as well and be sure to get it to you before Xmas. If you have any questions just give us a call at 877-898-1005. Real live humans answer the phones here. (But not until Monday, because we are stuffing our faces with turkeys for the next few days. Yes, multiple turkeys.) Call to order stuff, call to say hi, call to tell us about your awesome Turkey Day dinner (ask for Andrew please).
We hope everyone is enjoying the start to the holidays and isn’t having a nervous breakdown over the weather turning cold. This is normal, it happens every year. It will get warmer again. Unless you live in a really cold place that is cold year round. In which case, you should probably move, because that is really depressing. If you do, don’t expect your dogs to understand it however.
Here are some dancing Christmas lights. You’ll have to think of a different winter project. It has been done. To Death.
Here is the sale link if you didn’t find it in the FOUR spots above Trossen Robotics Black Friday to Cyber Monday Robot Sale!!!
Two months ago we partnered with the excellent coding site Code Project to put up some prizes for hardware articles. It is great to see more communities getting involved with DIY and Physical Computing. The programmers over there really delivered with a pile of great articles which were REALLY in depth and well done. One thing is for certain, they really know how to write articles over there. The contest ended recently, the votes are tallied, and the winners are in!
Here are the lucky winners who will be receiving prizes for their efforts:
Great job to everyone, but you know who the real winners are here? Its the robots, because they will have new homes and new friends to play with. Stay tuned for more contests announcements at Code Project. For those who are too impatient to wait. Our regular DIY Project Contest just had it’s deadline extended to January 1st! Still time to get in.
Ask and you shall receive! The deadline for the contest has been extended until Jan 1st, 2011!

As many know, we were recently at IRC 2010 in Korea. What even we ourselves didn’t know is that Robot World was going to be in Hall 2 right next to us. Robot World was packed full of amazing robots. Almost no one spoke English so we can”t tell you what they do, but we did run around taking lots of pictures and video to bring back for everyone. Enjoy, and try not to drool on your keyboard. One thing is clear, Korea knows how to make some cool robots.
SK. of the DarmstadtDribblers Robocup team fame dropped by our forums to let us know that a friendly match is being streamed live between his team and the champion team from the Standard Platform League, B-Human. It should start in TEN minutes (it’s 9:49am CST at the time of writing. We’ll see if we can also get a youtube link to this for those that miss out, should be pretty interesting to watch!
During the farewell-reception of SIMPAR2010 the acting RoboCup world champions from the Standard Platform League (B-Human, DFKI and Univ. Bremen) and the Humanoid Kid Size League (Darmstadt Dribblers, TU Darmstadt) will play a friendly exhibition match. Since two years, both teams have not lost a single game in their leagues. However, now both teams will play this test match on a mixed field with mixed rules of both leagues using the SPL ball.
We’re still reeling from our trip to Korea; jet-lag, last minute flu bugs, and a tad too much Soju really did a number on us. One thing is for sure- Asia has the US beat handily on robotic presence. What we didn’t know when heading to the competition was that IRC2010 also was attached to Robotworld 2010, the single largest Robotics Convention we’ve ever seen. Literally hundreds of booths and double or even triple that number of robots ran wild in a convention hall bigger than an aircraft hanger. It’s going to take us a few weeks to sort through all the video, but we’ll give you a sneak peak at the hundreds of pictures we took. There is some SERIOUS robot-eye-candy in these galleries, be sure to check it out.
And here’s a few choice pics for those of you too lazy to check out the above linked galleries!
