Lego Mindstorms NXTway-G much cooler than Segway

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

It looks like yet another wickedly cool robot using Lego Mindstorms has come out of the Lego Mindstorms Community! Roy Watanabe has just put up some pics of his NXTway-G robot, which uses many of the similar concepts of Steve Hassenplug’s Legway and Philippe Hurbain’s NXTway. However, the major difference is that this one is more of a Segway-type bot in the sense that Roy is using gyros for balancing.

Mutant Spider Robot About To Be Born

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007
spider bot

We found this cool robot over at robotdreams.

This strikingly creative hybrid robot spider is half Korean (Bioloid for the body and legs) and half Japanese (Transborg NetTansor for the head, brain, camera, and networking). Laurent, the developer, is still in the early stages of prototyping and programming, but based on his earlier robot and robot simulation work, it won’t be long before this mutant spider is amazing and perhaps terrorizing the neighbors. It should turn into a great example of how stock robot kits can be hacked and combined to create exciting new robots that the kit manufacturers never imagined.
